Youth Care Worker – Trauma‑Informed Support

About the role

The Youth Care Worker provides trauma‑informed care, supervision and support to female adolescents who have experienced abuse or neglect. Working on a 5‑day, 44‑hour week across three shifts, the role focuses on enhancing residents’ overall wellbeing—physical, emotional, spiritual, mental, educational and social.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out daily operational duties and supervise residents in regular activities.
• Assist residents with day‑to‑day issues, ensuring welfare and safety.
• Promote discipline and act as a mentor/role model.
• Assess, respond to and manage crises or conflicts.
• Deliver individual therapeutic interventions according to care plans.
• Contribute to meeting residents’ physical, emotional, spiritual, mental, educational and social needs.

Required profile

• Experience working with at‑risk youth and complex trauma.
• Basic processing and counselling abilities.
• Knowledge of common trauma‑related issues and disorders.
• Willingness to work three‑shift rotations, including weekends and public holidays.
