Accountant / Senior Accountant - Financial Planning & Control (Contract)

About the role

Singapore Airlines is hiring an Accountant or Senior Accountant for its Finance Division, Financial Planning & Control Department, on a contract basis ending in December 2027. The role covers budgeting, accurate accounting, timely processing and reporting of expenses and recoveries, and budgeting, forecasts and cost-saving initiatives for Head Office divisions.

Key responsibilities

• Review accruals and journal vouchers for accuracy and completeness, and check invoices and vouchers for errors or omissions.
• Approve accounts receivable and payable invoices and ensure correct accounting allocation by division.
• Monitor monthly accounts variance analysis and expenditure against budget and forecast, working with divisions on explanations for overruns and supplementary budgets, and ensuring compliance with the Finance Manual.
• Discuss accounting treatments with divisions and compile and analyse material monthly expense variances.
• Submit monthly, quarterly and yearly reports to the Corporate Accounts & Projects department.
• Monitor and clear suspense accounts within agreed timelines.
• Assist with annual budget and long-term projection exercises, including preparing budget papers and helping divisions identify cost savings.
• Assist with monthly rolling forecasts, including analysis of significant variances.
• Work with internal and external auditors, follow up on audit recommendations, and handle ad-hoc projects such as IT system improvements.
• Guide staff on system use, resolve work problems and assess staff performance.

Required profile

• University Bachelor's degree in Accountancy or an equivalent professional qualification recognised by ACCA.
• Good attention to detail, good numerical and analytical skills, effective time management and communication skills.
