AMHS Engineer – Automation & Systems

About the role

We are seeking an AMHS Engineer to join our Automation & Systems team at SSMC. The role focuses on ensuring reliability of our automated material handling systems, supporting production operations, and collaborating across functions to optimise material flow and minimise downtime.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor and maintain AMHS performance to maximise uptime.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot hardware and software failures.
• Provide technical support to operations during AMHS issues.
• Develop and execute preventive maintenance schedules.
• Coordinate system upgrades and migrations with vendors and internal stakeholders.
• Manage spare parts inventory and critical component replacements.
• Analyse system data to identify trends, bottlenecks or inefficiencies.
• Support layout changes and material flow improvements with manufacturing and planning teams.
• Lead or support AMHS projects such as new equipment installation, software updates, and capacity expansion.
• Interface with vendors for procurement, commissioning and support agreements.
• Ensure documentation of changes and compliance with safety and quality standards.
• Work with IT, Equipment Engineering and Facilities to ensure system integration and stability.
• Train technicians and operators on system usage and troubleshooting.
• Follow all safety protocols, including work at height.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Industrial, Computer Engineering or a related field.
• 2–5 years experience with AMHS in manufacturing or automation environments (e.g., semiconductor fab, warehouse automation).
• Ability to work at height using ladders, mobile platforms and safety harness.
• Willingness to work independently or in a team on standard or swing shifts.
• Knowledge of semiconductor manufacturing processes and cleanroom AMHS systems.
• Familiarity with continuous improvement methodologies.

Required skills

• Experience with OEM AMHS systems such as Muratec, Daifuku, or SSI Schaefer (preferred).
• Knowledge of MCS, PLCs and industrial control systems.
• Understanding of automation protocols such as SECS/GEM.
• Strong problem‑solving abilities.
• Excellent communication and teamwork.
