AP Accountant (Japanese Speaking) - 1 Year Contract

About the role

A global innovator focused on digitalization and automation for process and manufacturing industries is hiring an Accounts Payable Accountant in Singapore via Michael Page. The role oversees Japan's accounts and requires speaking and writing Japanese. It is a 1-year contract with potential for extension, paid SG$5,000 to SG$5,500 per month.

Key responsibilities

• Vendor invoice processing, employee and vendor payments, and accounts receivable cash applications, ensuring transactions are authorized, accurate and completed on time
• Maintain the fixed asset register, run monthly asset closings and reconcile asset balances
• Review and process bank statements and reconcile cash movements
• Support month-end close with reconciliations and verification against internal reporting standards and local accounting regulations
• Assist with VAT and withholding tax reconciliations and support audits and compliance requirements
• Work with accounting, finance and business teams and take on ad-hoc assignments

Required profile

• Background in accounting or finance with relevant qualifications
• Degree in Accounting and Finance
• Experience processing and managing accounts payable transactions
• Prior experience in a Japan-headquartered multinational
• Ability to speak and write Japanese to liaise with Japanese stakeholders and vendors
