Application Engineer - Semiconductor Equipment

About the role

Applied Materials, a global leader in materials engineering solutions for display and semiconductor chips, is hiring an Application Engineer in Singapore. The role works closely with customers to define application roadmaps, run evaluations and demonstrations, and transfer new application capabilities from the product division to customer support.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the product application roadmap based on deep understanding of customer technologies and their critical gaps
• Technically lead complex application activities and the team, including execution teams for beta sites, evaluations and demos at customer sites, with close involvement in the Statement of Work and commitment schedule
• Interface with customers on technical requirements analysis and schedule
• Define and approve product application support plans for installation
• Create and lead new methodologies to optimise system performance for specific applications
• Analyse, develop and transfer new application capabilities from the product division to the customer application support team
• Lead customer technical review meetings
• Deliver measurable improvements in system performance and process monitoring, and lead root-cause analysis of critical customer issues for one of the applications (CVD/PVD/Etch)
• Establish and institutionalise best practices and application methodologies
• Publish papers internally and externally and file patents

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree or higher in any related engineering or science field
• Familiarity with the semiconductor process engineering field
• Deep understanding of customer process technology trends and semiconductor manufacturing applications
• Knowledge of process sensitivity and key process knobs
• Ability to act as a trusted technical advisor to customers, with strong communication skills
• Experience with Statements of Work, project schedules, milestones and resource plans, and coordination across Product Development, Engineering, Service and Customer organisations
• Strong execution focus, teamwork and collaboration across cross-functional teams
