Applied Research Fellowship – Engineering (MOE START Scheme)

About the role

The MOE START Scheme Applied Research Fellowship offers Singaporean doctoral candidates in engineering a one‑year opportunity to conduct advanced research at a leading overseas university. Fellows receive a monthly stipend, overseas allowances, mentorship from SIT faculty, and a pathway to an Assistant Professorship upon successful completion.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out research projects aligned with SIT’s supported engineering areas, such as power electronics and high‑voltage DC transmission.
• Collaborate closely with overseas supervisors and SIT mentors to produce high‑quality publications and conference presentations.
• Participate in faculty development programmes and share findings with SIT’s academic community.
• Manage research budgets, including conference and fieldwork grants.

Required profile

• Singapore citizen holding a PhD or about to complete a doctoral degree in an engineering discipline covered by the START scheme.
• Excellent academic record and strong motivation for research in the selected area.
• Accepted or applied for a post‑doctoral training position at a leading overseas university.
• Clear interest in pursuing an academic career at SIT.
