AS400 Engineer – Contract

About the role

The role provides Level 2/3 support for production incidents in highly sensitive financial environments across multiple global sites. You will design, develop and maintain AS400 software modules and lead critical post‑trade application projects.

Key responsibilities

• Provide Level 2/3 incident support for financial systems and ensure system stability.
• Design, develop and maintain RPG (III, IV, Free Form) and CL modules on the AS400 platform.
• Perform OS upgrades, LPAR configuration, and patch management.
• Lead design and development of post‑trade applications for trade matching, settlement and payment processing.
• Integrate legacy AS400 applications with modern platforms using APIs, web services, IBM App Connect Enterprise or MQ.
• Coordinate testing, approval and deployment of enhancements, including post‑deployment verification.

Required profile

• Minimum 8 years of technical support experience in trading or financial services.
• Expert‑level knowledge of AS400 system administration and capital‑markets processes.
• Strong understanding of DB2/400, complex SQL and data mapping for financial transactions.
• Experience with high‑availability tools, backup/recovery and system performance tuning.

Required skills

• AS400 platform, RPG (III, IV, Free Form) and CL programming.
• DB2/400 and advanced SQL.
• IBM i LPAR management, OS upgrades and patch management.
• IBM App Connect Enterprise, IBM MQ and API/web‑service integration.
• SWIFT messaging standards and integration protocols.
• High‑availability, backup/recovery and performance tuning tools.
