Assembly Technician – Laser Systems

About the role

Excelitas Technologies is seeking a skilled Assembly Technician to build and test laser base assemblies and complex laser systems. The role involves mechanical, electrical, and optical assembly work in a high‑precision manufacturing environment.

Key responsibilities

• Assemble laser base and complex laser assemblies, perform polishing, optical and laser testing, and integrate components according to drawings and controlled documents.
• Handle mechanical, electrical, and optical assembly tasks, including use of vacuum systems, ESD control, fiber‑optic termination, cleaning, and packing.
• Maintain electronic records, follow safety, quality, and material‑control procedures, and support continuous‑improvement initiatives.
• Train other employees, assist leadership with process improvements, and adapt to evolving business needs.

Required profile

• GCE ‘O’ Level or Technical Certificate (or equivalent) with at least 3 years of manufacturing experience in electrical/electronic assembly.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics, work with minimal supervision, and demonstrate high accuracy and attention to detail.
• Proficiency with QMEHS compliance, record‑keeping in spreadsheets or process control systems, and basic IT skills (Microsoft Office).

Required skills

• Mechanical, electrical and optical assembly and testing.
• Laser application assembly, collimation, alignment, and testing.
• ESD control for sensitive components.
• Fiber‑optic termination.
• Use of vacuum systems and cleaning of parts/assemblies.
• Experience with test equipment and willingness to learn new equipment.
