Assistant Data Scientist

About the role

The Assistant Data Scientist works closely with business stakeholders to translate business challenges into data‑driven solutions. You will be involved in the full data‑science lifecycle, from problem definition and data preparation to modelling, insight delivery and deployment.

Key responsibilities

• Facilitate discussions with users to understand pain points and convert them into analytical problem statements.
• Clean, preprocess and transform structured and unstructured data, ensuring high data quality.
• Perform feature engineering and integrate multiple data sources to enrich models.
• Explore data with statistical techniques and build machine‑learning models for prediction, classification or clustering.
• Evaluate model performance, iterate based on feedback and support deployment into production.
• Create clear visualisations, dashboards and interactive tools to communicate insights.
• Collaborate with engineering teams, monitor model performance and suggest improvements.

Required profile

• Strong analytical mindset with the ability to turn business questions into data‑science projects.
• Experience working with cross‑functional stakeholders and managing expectations.
• Excellent communication skills to present findings in an accessible manner.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Python and R for data analysis.
• SQL knowledge for data extraction and manipulation.
• Experience with pandas or equivalent data‑handling libraries.
• Solid foundation in statistics, probability and hypothesis testing.
• Ability to build and evaluate machine‑learning models.
• Data‑visualisation skills, including dashboard creation.
