Assistant Director – Audit Advisory

About the role

The Assistant Director (Audit Advisory) will provide strategic audit advisory across the Ministry of Defence and the Singapore Armed Forces. This senior position supports the development of robust governance, risk management and internal control frameworks to safeguard critical defence operations.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, plan and execute audit advisory assignments to assess the adequacy and effectiveness of internal controls and risk management systems.
• Review business processes, identify governance and control gaps, and recommend improvements.
• Implement and sustain initiatives that promote good governance and control practices throughout the organisation.
• Drive education and training programmes to raise awareness of governance and internal‑control best practices.
• Perform audit advisory work in line with the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) Standards for Professional Practices Framework.

Required profile

• Degree in Accountancy, Business Administration or a related field.
• Minimum 8 years of audit, accounting or related experience.
• Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) accreditation; additional CA or CISA certifications are advantageous.
• Strong knowledge of corporate governance, risk management and control activities.
• Familiarity with government regulations, auditing standards and reporting requirements.
• Excellent analytical and interpersonal abilities.
