Assistant Director, Finance

About the role

The Assistant Director, Finance will lead the NHGPh finance team, reporting to the Head of NHGPh and the CFO of NHG Pop Health. This senior finance partner will work closely with business and operations teams to drive strategy, performance management, budgeting, forecasting, cash management and cost analysis across the organisation.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, motivate and develop the NHGPh finance team to achieve departmental and organisational objectives.
• Ensure compliance and timely completion of all financial and management accounting activities, including month‑end and year‑end closing.
• Prepare and present accurate monthly financial and management reports to senior leadership and stakeholders.
• Monitor and report capital and operating expenditure for funded and self‑funded projects.
• Manage internal and external audits and ensure lease contract compliance with FRS 116.
• Collaborate with clinical and operational teams to produce financial reports and analyse operating expenses.
• Oversee finance operations such as vendor invoice approval, purchase requisition processing and system usage (ePay, VIMS, Ariba).
• Review, design and implement SOPs and work instructions to improve finance processes and support system implementation projects.

Required profile

• Significant experience leading finance functions within a complex, preferably healthcare, organisation.
• Strong understanding of healthcare financials, cost drivers and regulatory requirements.
• Proven ability to partner with business units, influence strategic decisions and drive improvement initiatives.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills across clinical, operational and finance teams.
