Assistant Director, Talent Acquisition

About the role

The Assistant Director (Talent Acquisition) will lead end‑to‑end recruitment for the Digital and Intelligence Service (DIS), overseeing a small specialist team to attract and hire mid‑career technology professionals. This role blends operational leadership with strategic influence, data analytics, and policy innovation.

Key responsibilities

• Direct and mentor a small, agile team of talent acquisition specialists delivering full recruitment cycles.
• Design, maintain, and use talent acquisition dashboards to monitor key performance indicators.
• Analyse macro‑employment trends and internal attrition data, producing actionable reports for senior leadership.
• Review and modernise recruitment policies, compensation benchmarks, and evaluation frameworks.
• Identify and streamline structural bottlenecks while managing organisational risk.
• Develop and pilot innovative recruitment channels and partnerships with external professional associations.

Required profile

• Degree in Human Resource Management, Business Administration, Information Systems or a related field.
• Minimum 10 years of comprehensive, end‑to‑end talent acquisition experience.
• At least 2 years of people‑management or team‑lead experience.
• Proven experience hiring mid‑career or senior tech professionals, including candidate engagement and compensation negotiations.
• Ability to translate ATS data and spreadsheet metrics into executive‑level presentations.
• Experience drafting recruitment guidelines, SOPs, and organisational policies.
• Strong communication skills for interaction with senior military leadership.
• Solution‑oriented mindset capable of navigating bureaucratic structures.
