Assistant Engineer (Environmental Testing & Drafting)

About the role

The Assistant Engineer will support environmental testing and mechanical drafting activities for a manufacturing company. This junior position involves hands‑on lab work, coordination with design teams, and customer communication.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct laboratory tests using electrodynamic shakers and temperature/humidity chambers in line with defined procedures.
• Guide test operators to ensure equipment is used correctly and test requirements are met.
• Make approximately ten visits to external laboratories each quarter to oversee testing activities.
• Coordinate with equipment designers to schedule functional checks on products under test.
• Perform visual inspections of products before and after testing, following a detailed checklist.
• Notify customers of any test anomalies and discuss appropriate follow‑up actions.
• Record, analyse, and provide test and inspection results to internal teams and clients.
• Undertake mechanical drafting and design tasks related to test fixtures and product modifications.

Required profile

• Higher NITEC or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering.
• Experience with ESS, PDU or GD&T is beneficial but not mandatory.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Required skills

• Mechanical drafting.
• Operation of laboratory testing equipment (electrodynamic shakers, temperature/humidity chambers).
• Understanding of ESS, PDU and GD&T concepts.
• Basic mechanical engineering knowledge.
• Attention to detail for visual inspections and data recording.
