Assistant Engineer (Maintenance)

About the role

We are looking for an Assistant Engineer to join our maintenance team at a leading agricultural industrial facility in Singapore. The role involves ensuring reliable operation of plant equipment, supporting preventive and corrective maintenance, and contributing to continuous improvement of maintenance processes.

Key responsibilities

• Execute routine, ad‑hoc, and preventive maintenance tasks for factory equipment.
• Plan and carry out corrective maintenance for diverse machines and facilities.
• Identify critical machine parts and manage stock to minimise downtime.
• Maintain spare‑part inventory within budget constraints.
• Set up machines and ensure smooth handover to production.
• Keep maintenance schedules, procedures, manuals, risk assessments and checklists up to date; create new SOPs as needed.
• Train and guide team members to enhance technical knowledge.
• Lead a team of maintenance technicians for assigned duties.
• Support engineering in new machine/line design and implementation.
• Coordinate with vendors for quotations and retrofits.
• Apply 5S principles and adhere to safety regulations.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Required profile

• Diploma in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in equipment and facility maintenance.
• Hands‑on experience with motors, pumps, formulation tanks, scrubbers, dust collectors, chillers and air compressors (preferred).
• Team player with good interpersonal skills.
• Relevant certifications such as work‑at‑height or risk‑assessment (preferred).
• Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
• Ability to multitask and work under pressure in hot and humid environments.
