Assistant General Counsel APAC (Singapore)

About the role

FTI Consulting's Legal team protects its brand by managing and mitigating legal, compliance and regulatory risk. With more than 800 staff across 12 offices, its Asia Pacific business has a significant regional footprint. FTI Consulting is looking for an Assistant General Counsel based in Singapore to join the APAC legal team, reporting to the Head of Legal, APAC and working with colleagues in Singapore and Melbourne. The role delivers pragmatic, adaptable, solutions-based legal advice to client-facing professionals and corporate teams.

Key responsibilities

• Partner with FTI's business segments across the region to support profitability, growth and commercial success.
• Negotiate and draft client-facing contracts and advise on commercial contracts and multi-jurisdictional issues.
• Work with the APAC legal and risk teams to maintain and adapt standard form templates that comply with company policies and applicable laws.
• Advise the HR team on employment law matters for employees and contractors across the region, escalating to external counsel where appropriate.
• Identify and analyse current and emerging legal issues, communicate risks clearly and help implement mitigation strategies.
• Manage relationships with external legal counsel to ensure high-quality, cost-effective services.

Required profile

• Qualified solicitor (common law jurisdiction) with 12-15 years' experience at a leading law firm and/or in-house team.
• Experience negotiating and advising on commercial arrangements with government bodies, financial institutions and multinational corporations.
• Ability to resolve complex legal issues with commercially sound, cost-effective solutions and sound judgment.
• Resilient, collaborative professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and takes ownership of difficult decisions.

Required skills

• Working knowledge of data privacy frameworks relevant to the region.
• Commercial negotiation and drafting.
