Assistant Head – Strategic Planning & Engagement

About the role

The National Institute of Education (NIE) is seeking an Assistant Head to support the Department of Strategic Planning & Engagement. The role will help drive the institute’s strategic initiatives, provide high‑level secretariat support and coordinate engagement activities for senior leadership.

Key responsibilities

• Provide secretariat support for leadership and board meetings, ensuring effective decision‑making.
• Develop, monitor, communicate and report on institutional strategic initiatives and success indicators.
• Design and manage strategic engagement activities such as leadership retreats, annual strategic reviews and addresses.
• Facilitate cross‑institutional projects arising from the Strategic Plan, including steering committees, taskforces and programme reviews.
• Assist in managing intellectual property, departmental budget, assets and physical spaces.
• Support special or ad‑hoc projects and institutional events as assigned.

Required profile

• University degree.
• 3–5 years of relevant experience in strategic planning, organisational development or related fields.
• Strong analytical and conceptualisation abilities.
• Excellent written communication and copy‑writing skills.
• Highly meticulous with the ability to analyse large volumes of text and numerical data.
• Proven ability to work independently under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
• Team‑player attitude with a professional and service‑oriented mindset.
• Experience in a publicly funded educational institution is an advantage.

Required skills

• High proficiency in MS Office.
• Working knowledge of statistics and data analysis.
• Familiarity with document and information management systems.
• Understanding of corporate work planning and budgeting.
