Assistant Head – Strategic Planning & Engagement

About the role

The National Institute of Education (NIE) seeks an Assistant Head to support the Department of Strategic Planning & Engagement. You will work closely with senior leadership to drive strategic initiatives and facilitate high‑impact engagement activities across the institute.

Key responsibilities

• Provide secretariat support for leadership and board meetings, ensuring effective decision‑making.
• Develop, monitor, communicate and report on institutional strategic initiatives and success indicators.
• Design and manage strategic engagement events such as leadership retreats, annual reviews and addresses.
• Support cross‑institutional projects, including steering committees, taskforces and programme reviews.
• Assist in managing NIE‑level intellectual property, departmental budget, assets and physical spaces.
• Contribute to special projects and institutional events as assigned.

Required profile

• University degree.
• 3–5 years of relevant experience in strategic planning, organisational development, copywriting or editing.
• Excellent conceptualisation, analytical and written communication skills.
• Highly meticulous with the ability to analyse large volumes of text and numerical data.
• Working knowledge of statistics or data analysis is an advantage.
• Familiarity with corporate planning and budgeting at an organisational level.
• Strong team player, independent under pressure and committed to professional integrity.

Required skills

• High proficiency in MS Office.
• Working knowledge of document/information management systems.
• Basic skills in statistics and data analysis.
