Assistant Manager, Lab Operations

About the role

The School of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at Nanyang Technological University seeks an Assistant Manager to oversee day‑to‑day operations of its Aerospace Engineering laboratory facilities. The role supports teaching sessions, research activities and ensures a safe, well‑maintained environment for students and staff.

Key responsibilities

• Assist with full‑time and part‑time laboratory teaching sessions, including after‑hours classes.
• Supervise undergraduate and postgraduate students in risk assessments, safety training and SOP compliance.
• Process lab requisitions via SAP Ariba on behalf of faculty and researchers.
• Maintain and certify laboratory equipment, ensuring compliance with local regulations and OEM requirements.
• Manage lab assets, keeping accurate records and accountability.
• Prepare documentation for internal and external audits, ensuring all records are up‑to‑date.

Required profile

• Degree in Mechanical, Precision or related engineering discipline.
• Minimum four years of hands‑on experience with conventional lathes, milling machines and Mazak Integrex/QT250 equipment.
• Familiarity with laboratory operations in a higher‑learning institution.
• Understanding of ISO 45001, risk management and Singapore WSH, NEA and SCDF regulations.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings for part‑time classes.
