Assistant Manager / Manager Compliance Investigations

About the role

Manulife is looking for a competent person with relevant local experience in compliance relating to market conduct and investigation in the insurance industry. The role ensures investigations are aligned with regulatory expectations and helps improve investigation processes and standards. It is a hybrid working arrangement.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct investigations into market misconduct referred to Manulife directly or from external sources such as MAS and FIDReC.
• Assess cases objectively, write clear, well-reasoned findings and recommendations, and distinguish fact from judgement.
• Ensure investigations are properly documented, auditable and defensible.
• Prepare and present findings to the Disciplinary Committee and support deviation hearings and the communication of decisions.
• Run ad-hoc reviews of emerging market misconduct indicators and give management insights.
• Deliver training on Market Conduct standards to the Manulife tied-agency force.
• Support responses to regulatory queries, audits and inspections where required.
• Contribute to process improvements, automation and standardisation of investigation workflows.

Required profile

• Diploma or degree in finance, business, law or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in investigations, compliance, legal or regulatory roles, preferably in insurance or financial services.
• Strong background in distribution / market conduct compliance.
• Professional qualifications such as FLMI, Diploma in Life Insurance and completion of CMFAS exams (M5, M9, M9A, CHI, M8, M8A); a Diploma in Financial Planning is a plus.
• Strong investigative mindset, attention to detail, critical thinking, ethical and tenacious approach, and excellent report writing and communication skills.
• Proven ability to work independently and manage multiple cases, with strong problem-solving and collaborative skills.

Required skills

• Proficiency in the Microsoft suite of applications.
