Assistant Manager / Manager, Middle Office – Commodity Trade

About the role

The Middle Office Assistant Manager/Manager supports the commodity trade business segment by overseeing the transactional flow of documents and ensuring compliance with approved credit conditions. This role combines operational oversight with analytical review to facilitate smooth trade finance transactions.

Key responsibilities

• Initiate and send trade requests for approval and noting.
• Manage a portfolio of commodity trade borrowers and handle various types of Letters of Credit (BBLC, FBLC, export collection, open‑account).
• Match and transfer required documents, monitor acceptance or rejection of import and export settlements.
• Coordinate switching of Bills of Lading and instruct operation teams on the use of export proceeds to settle related import financing.
• Oversee transactional requests and document handling within SLA, collaborating with BU, CI and FIG teams.
• Liaise with customers regarding transaction outcomes and prepare regular and ad‑hoc control reports.
• Conduct trade finance transaction reviews, price checks, MTM valuation and follow‑up on any shortfalls.
• Assist in cash collateral collection and release, and verify LC document compliance.

Required profile

• Degree in Banking, Business, Finance, Economics or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in Trade Finance operations and 2‑3 years in commodity trade finance middle office.
• Strong analytical and communication abilities with a proven track record of managing multiple internal and external stakeholders.
• Team player with high integrity, professionalism and a proactive attitude.
• Ability to identify trade finance patterns, red‑flag issues and participate in project initiatives.
• Knowledge of the latest UCP/ISP98 and ISPB versions is an advantage.
