Assistant Professor (Tenure Track) – Photonics

About the role

The School of Physical and Mathematical Sciences at Nanyang Technological University seeks a tenure‑track Assistant Professor to lead research and teaching in Photonics, Nanophotonics, Quantum Photonics or related fields. The successful candidate will join a multidisciplinary environment that bridges physics, materials science and engineering.

Key responsibilities

• Establish and develop a world‑class research programme in photonics and related areas.
• Publish high‑impact papers, present invited talks at international conferences and secure competitive research grants.
• Teach and develop undergraduate and graduate courses, providing supervision to MSc and PhD students.
• Collaborate actively with NTU faculty, industry partners and international researchers.
• Contribute to departmental administration, leadership roles and service activities.

Required profile

• PhD in physics, materials science or a closely related discipline.
• Strong record of peer‑reviewed publications in reputable international journals.
• Demonstrated success in obtaining research funding.
• Experience supervising students and post‑doctoral researchers.
• Proven ability to work across disciplines and foster collaborations.
