Assistant Purchasing Manager, Confectionery

About the role

A global travel retailer, distributor and duty free operator is expanding its business and, through Timeo-Performance, is looking for an Assistant Purchasing Manager for the Confectionery category. The role leads and supports supplier negotiations in line with the Asia Pacific regional strategy.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and support supplier negotiations aligned to the Asia Pacific regional strategy, securing the most competitive terms and conditions.
• Manage ongoing supplier relationships so that all Retail and Distribution customers are managed optimally.
• Provide technical and professional expertise when supporting new projects and tenders.
• Identify and propose current market trends, including relevant assortment and brands.
• Inspire and motivate team members to meet objectives, build their capability and drive positive engagement.

Required profile

• Degree in Business or a related discipline.
• At least 5 years of practical experience in a purchasing function, preferably in retail and/or confectionery.
• Strong, reliable leadership with the ability to mentor and develop team members.
• Strong communication, negotiation and stakeholder management skills, with a track record of sustaining long-term relationships.
• Can-do attitude, able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment, with strong business and financial acumen and attention to detail.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook, Teams).
• Exposure to SAP is preferred but not mandatory.
