Assistant Senior Social Worker – Child Protection

About the role

We are seeking an Assistant Senior Social Worker to join our Child Protection Specialist Centre. You will work directly with families and children experiencing abuse or severe neglect, providing home‑based services and support in line with our child‑centred, family‑focused approach.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct risk assessments and develop safety plans.
• Carry out social investigations, assessments, case formulation and intervention planning.
• Prepare timely reports and maintain accurate case records.
• Implement safety and intervention plans, and lead meetings, coaching sessions, and family consultations.
• Develop wrap‑around services for high‑need families through advocacy, referrals and collaboration.
• Provide emotional support, brief counselling and guidance to families, children and young persons.
• Supervise junior social workers.

Required profile

• Degree in Social Work or a Degree with a Graduate Diploma in Social Work from an accredited institution.
• 3–5 years of experience in child protection, mental health or family violence, including supervisory responsibilities.
• Ability to work in a fast‑paced, stressful environment.
• Strong maturity, communication and interpersonal skills to engage diverse families and professionals.
• Willingness to work two night shifts per week and occasional weekends.
