Assistant/Associate Professor – Physical Education & Sports Pedagogy

About the role

The National Institute of Education (NIE) seeks to appoint an Assistant Professor or Associate Professor in Physical Education and Sports Pedagogy within its Physical Education & Sports Science (PESS) Department. The role combines teaching, research, and curriculum development to advance the institute’s mission of producing independent, critical, and creative practitioners in physical education and sport.

Key responsibilities

• Teach undergraduate and postgraduate courses in physical education, sports pedagogy, and related subjects.
• Conduct high‑quality research, publish in peer‑reviewed international journals, and secure competitive research grants.
• Supervise and mentor graduate students on research projects and theses.
• Lead curriculum design and development for existing and new programmes.
• Contribute to departmental research leadership and collaborate with faculty on interdisciplinary initiatives.

Required profile

• PhD in physical education, sports pedagogy, or a closely related field.
• Demonstrated record of scholarly publications and ability to obtain research funding.
• Experience teaching physical education or related courses at the university level.
• Evidence of supervising graduate students and involvement in curriculum development.
• For Associate Professor candidates: sustained independent reputation with high‑impact publications and/or major grant awards.
