Assistant/Associate Professor – Physics Education

About the role

The National Institute of Education (NIE) in Singapore is seeking an Assistant Professor or Associate Professor to strengthen its Physics Education programme within the Natural Sciences and Science Education (NSSE) Department. The role combines teaching, research and professional service to advance science education.

Key responsibilities

• Design, deliver and assess a range of pre‑service and in‑service physics education courses, including graduate‑level science education modules.
• Supervise undergraduate, pre‑service, Master’s and Doctoral students in teaching practicum, research projects and dissertations.
• Participate in departmental, institute and university committees and provide consultancy to schools and the Ministry of Education.
• Secure research funding, publish in high‑impact international journals and contribute to the institute’s research agenda.

Required profile

• Basic degree in Physics and a PhD in Education with a focus on science/physics education.
• Strong record of peer‑reviewed publications in top‑tier international education journals.
• Ability to teach in English.
• Teaching qualification and at least five years of secondary or primary teaching experience, preferably with leadership roles.
• Post‑doctoral research experience and experience delivering professional development for teachers (desired).
• Experience conducting research in multilingual and multicultural settings and a history of competitive research grants (desired).
