Assistant/Manager – Billing Operations

About the role

The Assistant/Manager, Billing will oversee end‑to‑end billing operations for power customers, ensuring accurate and timely bill generation, validation, and collection support while driving continuous improvement across processes and systems.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and support the full billing cycle, including preparation, validation, issuance, adjustments, credits and final processing.
• Lead the billing team to guarantee accuracy, timeliness and completeness of all billing activities.
• Investigate and resolve billing exceptions, disputed items, account discrepancies and customer queries promptly.
• Perform reconciliations with metering, settlements, receivables and general‑ledger records to ensure revenue accuracy and audit readiness.
• Support collection and accounts‑receivable follow‑up by tracking overdue balances, preparing reports and coordinating resolution actions.
• Develop, review and update billing procedures, workflows and internal controls to enhance productivity and compliance.
• Collaborate with business and system teams on billing system enhancements, testing, implementation, stabilization and post‑implementation monitoring.
• Prepare regular operational and management reports on billing performance, outstanding issues, customer trends and improvement opportunities.
• Ensure compliance with internal policies, contractual obligations, regulatory requirements and audit standards.
• Provide guidance to junior team members, allocate work and lead selected process‑improvement initiatives.

Required profile

• Degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, Engineering, Data Analytics or a related discipline.
• Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in billing, utility operations, energy retail, customer operations or finance operations.
• Experience in the power, utilities or energy sector is an advantage.
• Experience with billing system implementation projects.
