Associate, Trade Control

About the role

CIBC's Trade Control group provides control services across its businesses, covering Derivatives, Fixed Income and Cash Equity products in North America, the UK/EU and Asia. As an Associate, you will support the Global Markets Trading and Sales teams, acting as a liaison between the front office and downstream teams to resolve trade-related issues. The role supports CIBC's expansion in Singapore and works closely with Trade Control teams in Hong Kong, London and Toronto.

Key responsibilities

• Verify trade details against blotters, broker confirmations, external trading platforms, trade tickets and trader files, following daily control procedures to detect errors and omissions.
• Run daily reports for the Trade Control group.
• Reconcile trades between internal and external systems.
• Represent Trade Control as the main point of contact for internal departments, traders and marketers, collaborating with senior leadership on business needs and change initiatives.
• Manage trade and system issues, onboarding new systems and platforms, and working with technology teams on new automations.
• Maintain accurate records of daily controls for audit purposes.

Required profile

• Undergraduate degree in Mathematics, Economics, Finance, Commerce or Accounting.
• At least 4 years of experience in financial services, or relevant experience; prior work with derivatives, fixed income and cash equity products.
• Knowledge of structured notes and operational and settlement practices of bonds, repos, stocks, swaps, options, futures and foreign exchange is an asset.
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment and deal confidently with clients and internal stakeholders.
• Legally eligible to work in Singapore, with a valid work or study permit where applicable.

Required skills

• Intermediate Excel, able to reconcile large datasets from different sources.
• Experience with MarkitWire, Bloomberg, Wall Street, ADP, CTM and DTC is an asset.
• Analytical thinking, attention to detail, communication and teamwork.
