AVP, Lead Frontend Engineer, Consumer Banking Technology

About the role

Group Technology manages the majority of the bank's operational processes and delivers banking services through multiple channels. It is seeking an Assistant Vice President (AVP) to lead the standardization and optimization of UI architecture across all regional banking applications. The role combines strategic UI/UX design with hands-on component engineering to eliminate code duplication, establish design governance and improve page performance on the global digital banking platform.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain a comprehensive, framework-agnostic design system for UI components, ensuring accessibility and adherence to design standards across regions and products
• Standardize user journeys across APAC markets, design flexible architectures for regional variations within a unified codebase and lead migration to the standardized component library
• Optimize UI and page load performance (about 20% of the role) using code splitting, image optimization and build pipeline improvements, aiming for sub-2-second load times
• Design and implement a flexible theming system supporting multi-brand themes, dark/light mode and accessible colour palettes, synchronized with design tools

Required profile

• 8+ years in UI design, component engineering or product engineering
• 5+ years leading or architecting large-scale design systems (multi-product, multi-region)
• 3+ years in a senior or leadership role
• Preferred: banking or FinTech experience and understanding of multi-region, multi-product digital banking, mobile/responsive design and micro-frontend architectures
