Backend Developer Intern – WeChat

About the role

Join the WeChat team as a Backend Developer Intern and help build innovative IT solutions that have a global impact. You will work closely with product, safety, and operations teams to deliver secure, reliable services for millions of users.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement backend features using modern programming languages.
• Collaborate with product and safety teams to ensure services meet business and compliance requirements.
• Improve data compliance, user safety, and service reliability across worldwide users.
• Develop internal and external tools for user, safety, developer, and reliability operations.
• Assist other teams in making WeChat features safe, compliant, and available globally.

Required profile

• Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program in Computer Science, Information Systems, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
• Graduation in 2026 or later, with availability for a full‑time or 3‑day part‑time internship starting November 2025 or the January 2026 intake.
• Strong ownership, customer‑oriented values, and integrity.
• Fast learning ability, good programming discipline, and teamwork skills.

Required skills

• Proficiency in at least one language: C++, Python, Golang, Java, or Scala.
• Familiarity with Linux operating system and common system tools.
• Experience (or knowledge) of big‑data and streaming frameworks such as Hadoop, Spark, Hive, Kafka, Flink, or Iceberg.
• Experience with Docker and Kubernetes is a plus.
