Backend Software Engineer I

About the role

We are looking for a Junior Backend Software Engineer to join the Transaction Tribe, supporting the growth of our regional product team in Singapore. You will work with an international, highly skilled team to build and evolve features used across foodpanda’s global platform.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement new features for the global platform.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional, international teams to manage priorities, deadlines, and deliverables.
• Contribute to system architecture design and evolution.
• Enforce coding standards and conduct thorough code reviews.
• Implement automated testing frameworks (unit, integration, functional).
• Apply cloud, CI/CD, and reliability best practices (resiliency, autoscaling, monitoring, alerting).
• Identify and resolve complex technical issues, optimizing performance and scalability.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Minimum 1 year of professional backend development experience.
• Hands‑on experience with software architecture, design patterns, algorithms, and automated testing.
• Familiarity with microservices architecture is a strong plus.
• Solid understanding of relational and distributed databases.
• Experience working in agile, international teams.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
