Backend Software Engineer – Shop Platform (Europe)

About the role

Join the European E‑Commerce team to build and scale backend systems that power TikTok Shop’s B‑side services. You will work on high‑traffic, data‑intensive platforms that enable merchants, product providers, and service partners to grow across Europe.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain highly scalable backend services for merchant, product, and service‑provider growth.
• Own a specific functional module, abstract business logic, and create robust system architecture following industry best practices.
• Ensure system stability through multi‑data‑center scheduling, reliability engineering, loss prevention, and disaster‑recovery strategies.
• Analyze business data, identify capacity bottlenecks, and continuously improve performance to enhance user experience.
• Translate user requirements into software solutions, update existing codebases, and define testing and validation procedures.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, IT, or a related field.
• Proven experience building highly scalable backend services using at least one of Java, Golang, Python, or C++.
• Strong understanding of e‑commerce business processes and ability to collaborate across product and operations teams.
• Preferred experience in server‑level system design, performance optimisation for distributed high‑traffic environments, and development of B‑side business systems.
