Base Maintenance Manager

About the role

The Base Maintenance Manager leads the maintenance support functions for an MRO operation, ensuring tools, equipment, Non‑Destructive Testing (NDT) and calibration services are delivered efficiently and reliably. Reporting to the Vice President of Base Maintenance, this role combines technical oversight with customer‑facing responsibilities.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and manage base maintenance support areas, including tools, equipment, NDT and calibration.
• Oversee the Customer Success team to align support activities with contractual expectations.
• Develop new products or service bundles to boost customer satisfaction, retention and revenue.
• Build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including key decision‑makers.
• Drive productivity and process‑improvement initiatives, promoting digitalisation and AI adoption where relevant.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Vice President, Base Maintenance (Planning).

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aviation Management or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 10 years of experience in aircraft maintenance/MRO operations, with at least 2 years in a managerial or supervisory role.
• Proven people‑leadership skills, including performance management, coaching and development of multi‑level teams.
• Familiarity with procurement processes and internal governance requirements.
• Experience in budgeting, forecasting, manpower planning and asset/equipment acquisition.
• Knowledge of Lean or continuous‑improvement methodologies and ability to enforce standardised procedures.
• Strong communication, stakeholder‑management and problem‑solving abilities across planning, quality, safety, engineering and commercial functions.
