Buyer – Discrepant Material Report (DMR)

About the role

We are looking for a Buyer specialized in Discrepant Material Report (DMR) and Return To Vendor (RTV) processes to support our Singapore operations. The role works closely with internal teams and external suppliers to ensure timely resolution of material discrepancies.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with Production, Engineering, Quality, Logistics, Finance and Purchasing to process DMR and RTV cases.
• Lead problem resolution for disposition conflicts between Applied Materials and suppliers.
• Follow‑up and expedite open purchase orders and repair progress with suppliers.
• Coordinate on‑site and off‑site scrap disposition activities.
• Develop business simplification methods for the procurement function.
• Assist in creating ISO documentation for purchasing.
• Interpret part specifications and engineering drawings, communicating material requirements to engineers and suppliers.
• Manage the DMR purchasing team in the manager’s absence and oversee workload distribution among buyers.
• Lead small procurement projects, monitoring cost, schedule and scope.

Required profile

• Demonstrated expertise in procurement with a solid understanding of related disciplines.
• Knowledge of best practices in purchasing and awareness of market competition.
• Ability to act as a resource for less‑experienced colleagues and lead low‑risk projects.
• Strong problem‑solving skills, capable of analyzing multiple information sources.
• Impactful communication influencing customer, operational and project activities.
• Effective interpersonal skills for building consensus and handling sensitive information.
