Buyer / Planner - NPI Materials

About the role

KLA, a provider of inspection tools, metrology systems and process solutions for electronics, is hiring a Buyer/Planner in its Global Operations (GOPS) team in Singapore. The role plans and purchases direct materials, components and equipment for NPL programs and acts as single point of contact for suppliers on open orders, helping to reduce lead times, improve gross margin and control inventory.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and purchase direct materials, components and equipment for NPL programs driven via Purchase Requisition, and those driven by MRP or Re-order Point systems once materials are released.
• Analyze planning reports to ensure timely materials availability for production.
• Act as single point of contact with Design Engineering, NPL and Ops SCM teams to communicate engineering changes to suppliers on open orders.
• Improve gross margin through negotiation or localization with suppliers on pricing, rework costs and expediting costs.
• Reduce material lead times by improving supplier cycle times, negotiating hedges and VMI programs.
• Ensure timely PO execution and address supplier quality, capacity and material issues; follow up on early or delayed deliveries.
• Take part in supplier business reviews and give constructive feedback to improve supplier scores.
• Manage claims on ECO and EOM projects, manage EOL materials and last-time buys, and review ECN/ECO changes so production is not affected.
• Minimize excess inventory, work with the Inventory Analyst on quarterly E&ND reviews, and improve inventory turns through MRB and RTV actions.
• Review safety stock quarterly and coordinate material transfers and inventory management with Design Engineering and Ops.

Required profile

• Diploma or Bachelor degree in Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Logistics or equivalent.
• Related industry experience in NPI material buying, NPI tool planning or production planning.
• Experience in a low-volume, high-mix manufacturing environment is a plus.
• Good understanding of complex multi-level BOMs.

Required skills

• Proficiency in MS Excel, Word and Outlook.
• SAP experience is highly desirable.
