Cardiac Technologist (6-Month Maternity Cover)

About the role

NHG is hiring a Cardiac Technologist for a 6-month maternity cover contract. The technologist coordinates and takes part in the operation and maintenance of cardiovascular equipment and provides detailed analysis of cardiovascular functions in the centre.

Key responsibilities

• Perform routine cardiovascular tests (electrocardiography, ambulatory Holter/blood pressure), including downloading, analysing and interpreting data
• Perform treadmill ECG and assist in imaging stress testing independently
• Independently perform at least one of three complex modalities: transthoracic echocardiography (including portable), invasive angiograms and PCI, or cardiac implantable device checks, programming and implants
• Prepare procedure reports, maintain patient records and files, and keep equipment maintained and trouble-shooted
• Maintain the emergency crash cart and take part in audits to ensure equipment meets regulatory and safety requirements
• Keep the workstation tidy, follow infection control standards, and help the supervisor with inventory of supplies
• Take part in quality improvement activities and special projects as requested

Required profile

• New hire: at least a science degree or polytechnic diploma in cardiovascular technology or equivalent
• At least 3-5 years of relevant working experience
• Optional: registered Cardiovascular Technologist with CAAHEP or American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography or equivalent
