Clinical Instructor

About the role

RENCI is hiring a Clinical Instructor to provide training and education for nursing staff and students, and to help build clinical learning environments and preceptorship schemes. The role also covers training for non-nursing staff and volunteers, and supports the development of nursing standards.

Key responsibilities

• Train and educate nursing staff and students, and establish an optimal clinical learning environment.
• Assess, plan, implement and evaluate the preceptorship scheme that strengthens clinical support for new staff.
• Provide on-the-job training (OJT) for new staff and assist Nurse Managers in the wards in ensuring their competencies.
• Coordinate and organise training activities to strengthen unit-based generic and specialty clinical practices, and plan, implement and evaluate unit-based and discipline-based courses.
• Ensure orientation, training and continuing education so nursing staff maintain the required level of competency.
• Assist in developing and implementing Nursing Standards, and ensure patient care follows established standards of care and practice.
• Act as a resource person for the Nurse Manager on clinical nursing and training matters, and apply principles to prevent medico-legal issues in patient care.
• Perform summative assessments of nursing staff and students, and train other non-nursing staff and volunteers.
• Develop and deliver hospital-based training in line with MOH requirements and organisational needs.

Required profile

• Diploma or degree in Nursing.
• Advanced Certificate in Learning & Performance (ACLP).
• Preferably a Specialist Diploma in clinical education.
• At least 6 years of experience in clinical care.
• Registered Nurse with the Singapore Nursing Board.
