Commercial Counsel – APAC (Singapore)

About the role

Optro is seeking a Commercial Counsel to lead its legal efforts across the APAC region from Singapore. This is the first commercial legal position in the APJ market, responsible for establishing and scaling the company’s legal and compliance function while supporting rapid regional growth.

Key responsibilities

• Independently negotiate commercial contracts with customers, including SaaS subscription agreements, order forms, amendments, NDAs, vendor and partner agreements.
• Partner with Sales, Security, Finance, Product and other internal teams to provide practical legal guidance that balances business objectives with risk management.
• Develop and implement regional contracting processes, templates and best practices for APJ.
• Advise on APJ privacy and regulatory requirements such as Singapore PDPC, ASEAN MCCs, Japan PPC, and cross‑border data transfers.
• Manage the full contract lifecycle from request through execution and ongoing compliance.
• Support creation of regional entities and ensure ongoing corporate compliance in Singapore and other APJ jurisdictions.

Required profile

• Proven experience leading commercial contract negotiations for SaaS or technology companies.
• Strong understanding of APJ privacy laws and regulatory frameworks.
• Ability to work autonomously and build legal processes from the ground up.
• Excellent collaboration skills with cross‑functional stakeholders.
