Commercial Director – Infrastructure & Engineering, Asia

About the role

The Commercial Director will provide commercial leadership for the SJ Group across Asia, driving sustainable growth, disciplined work winning and profitable project delivery. Partnering with sector leaders, project directors and managers, the role ensures the business secures the right work on the right terms while managing commercial risk in line with the group’s strategy and risk appetite.

Key responsibilities

• Define and steer the commercial strategy for the portfolio, aligning priorities with organisational objectives and long‑term value creation.
• Oversee bid and pursuit governance, ensuring rigorous due‑diligence, pricing discipline and risk management to win profitable work.
• Establish and maintain commercial governance frameworks that enable delivery teams to execute projects compliantly and efficiently.
• Lead contract development, review and negotiation to optimise risk allocation and protect commercial interests.
• Monitor project and portfolio performance, resolve issues early and drive revenue, margin and cash‑flow targets.
• Build commercial capability across the organisation through tools, training, coaching and frameworks.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Engineering, Law or related field; MBA or other postgraduate qualification is a plus.
• 10–15 years of experience in commercial management, contract management, bid governance or portfolio oversight within infrastructure, engineering or professional services.
• Proven track record of leading commercial strategy and governance at project and portfolio levels.
• Extensive experience in contract drafting, review and negotiation with strong risk‑allocation knowledge.
• Demonstrated ability to drive financial performance, including revenue growth, margin optimisation and cash‑flow management.
