Commercial Manager

About the role

The Commercial Manager will oversee the day‑to‑day commercial operations of a diverse fleet of vessels, including tankers, parcel chemical tankers and dry bulk ships. Based in Singapore, the role ensures efficient chartering, performance monitoring and stakeholder coordination across the commercial services function.

Key responsibilities

• Manage all commercial aspects of tankers, parcel chemical tankers, dry bulk vessels and other ships under voyage charter, time charter or contract of affreightment.
• Plan and execute bunkering procedures, issue cargo, customs and freight documents, prepare stowage plans and handle invoicing.
• Monitor vessel performance against charter party requirements, including speed and fuel consumption, and take corrective actions when needed.
• Identify under‑performance early, implement remedial measures and drive continuous improvement.
• Mitigate issues related to difficult cargoes, ports or trading areas.
• Maintain relationships with customers, charterers, agents, terminals and cargo receivers.
• Collaborate with other business divisions to create synergies and project opportunities.
• Set and track KPIs for the commercial team and overall operational performance.
• Produce market analysis and sector reports, and prepare regular performance reports for asset protection and restructuring activities.

Required profile

• Degree in Nautical Sciences, Marine Engineering or a related discipline.
• Experience in commercial operations and chartering, preferably with a Master Mariner licence.
• Background in tankers, dry cargo, PCTC or LPG tankers is advantageous.
• Currently based in Singapore.
