Customer Engineer – Field Service (Semiconductor)

About the role

As a Customer Engineer at Applied Materials you will be the primary liaison with semiconductor customers, installing, maintaining and upgrading cutting‑edge equipment. You will use digital analytics and diagnostic tools to troubleshoot complex issues and ensure optimal performance of electrical, vacuum, mechanical, plasma, hydraulic and gas systems.

Key responsibilities

• Install, maintain and upgrade customer equipment in the field.
• Apply troubleshooting techniques and company diagnostic tools to resolve equipment failures.
• Follow and generate documented procedures and task plans.
• Communicate with customers and internal teams, leading projects as required.
• Train and mentor junior Field Service Engineers.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree with 10‑15 years of experience in the semiconductor or equipment support industry.
• C5 Board Certification and advanced mechanical aptitude (pneumatics, hydraulics, electronics, vacuum, thermodynamics).
• Strong knowledge of hand tools, digital multimeters and wafer processing parameters.
• Project management experience and ability to lead customer and internal meetings.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to travel up to 25% of the time.
