Customer Engineer Manager

About the role

Applied Materials, a global leader in materials engineering solutions for chips and advanced displays, is hiring a Customer Engineer Manager in Singapore. The role manages a team of customer engineers, supports service agreements and start-ups, and ensures customer satisfaction with service and system performance.

Key responsibilities

• Forecast financial, manpower and operational requirements for key businesses such as start-ups, warranties and service agreements, and pursue service agreement business together with marketing and sales.
• Manage start-ups in terms of time and cost, manage local inventories and RMA procedures, and maintain DSO according to goal.
• Manage systems start-up and warranty costs under reserve, and escalate system down-times according to the escalation procedure so that systems return to service as early as possible.
• Ensure customer satisfaction with company service and system performance, and achieve the guaranteed uptime and other parameters sold to customers.
• Interview, hire and train customer engineers as needed, and ensure their safety practices.
• Develop CE skills, spot and develop managerial and specialist talent, and set goals and career development plans for employees.
• Promote quality improvement processes to reduce cycle time and continuously improve technical performance.

Required profile

• In-depth understanding of concepts, theories and principles in the own job family and basic knowledge of related job families.
• Understanding of the industry and how the area contributes to achieving objectives.
• Ability to manage a generally homogeneous team and adapt plans and priorities to service and operational challenges.
• Ability to identify and resolve technical, operational and organisational problems, and to guide, influence and persuade others internally and externally.
• Compliance with Applied Materials' global Standards of Business Conduct and ethical conduct.
