Customer Engineer - Semiconductor Equipment

About the role

Applied Materials, a global leader in materials science and engineering solutions for semiconductors and advanced displays, is hiring a Customer Engineer in Singapore. The role works alongside Senior Field Service Engineers to install, maintain and upgrade customer equipment, using digital analytics and basic diagnostics to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with Senior Field Service Engineers on installing, maintaining and upgrading customer equipment.
• Use digital analytics for troubleshooting and apply basic diagnostic techniques to assess equipment, with guidance from Senior Field Service Engineers.
• Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on electrical, vacuum, mechanical, plasma, hydraulic and gas systems (training provided).
• Coordinate and communicate directly with customers.
• Fulfill additional duties as assigned.

Required profile

• Associate degree, military technical training, field service experience or trade certification.
• 1-2 years of work experience in customer/field service support or a related technical field; 2-4 years preferred.
• Valid driver's license and ability to obtain a passport if travel is required; able to meet on-site safety, environmental and COVID-19 protocols.
• Physical demands include extensive walking, standing, working in tight spaces, lifting up to 35 lbs, and working in a clean room with PPE such as coveralls, hoods, boots, safety glasses, gloves, respirators, chemical aprons and face shields.

Required skills

• Reading and interpreting electrical and mechanical schematics.
• Diagnosing and resolving basic technical challenges.
• Basic mechanical aptitude with pneumatics, hydraulics, electronics, vacuum or thermodynamics.
• Familiarity with hand tools and digital multimeters.
• Effective written and verbal communication.
• Basic knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
