Customer Engineer - Semiconductor Equipment Support

About the role

Applied Materials, a global leader in materials science and engineering solutions for semiconductors and advanced displays, is hiring a Customer Engineer (Field Service Engineer) in Singapore. The engineer acts as the direct liaison with customers, installing, maintaining and upgrading equipment, using digital analytics and basic diagnostics to troubleshoot technical issues.

Key responsibilities

• Install, maintain and upgrade customer equipment
• Use troubleshooting skills, diagnostic tools and documentation to solve complex equipment issues
• Follow and generate documented procedures and published task plans
• Communicate with customers and internal business units and lead projects as needed
• Train and mentor junior Field Service Engineers
• Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on electrical, vacuum, mechanical, plasma, hydraulic and gas systems
• Fulfill additional duties as assigned

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree
• 7-10 years of work experience in the semiconductor industry or another equipment support industry
• Valid driver's license and ability to obtain a passport if travel is required; able to meet on-site safety, environmental and COVID-19 requirements
• Ability to perform physical tasks such as walking, standing, working in tight spaces, lifting up to 35 lbs and working in a clean room with PPE

Required skills

• Advanced mechanical aptitude with pneumatics, hydraulics, electronics, vacuum and/or thermodynamics
• Strong knowledge of hand tools and digital multimeters
• Advanced knowledge of wafer processing parameters
• Basic knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint
• Preferred: project management skills and ability to lead customer and product meetings
