Data and AI Engineering Intern

About the role

Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group (MUFG) is recruiting a Data and AI Engineering Intern for its System Office for Asia – Technology Infrastructure Support (ASO - TIS) team in Singapore. The intern joins the Infrastructure Engineering team and helps build an AI-powered Operations Intelligence platform aimed at improving the efficiency of Storage, Backup, Monitoring and Infrastructure Operations teams. The internship runs from 11 January 2027 to 30 June 2027.

Key responsibilities

• Work with infrastructure engineers to map operational workflows, incident management and troubleshooting, and document use cases and prioritise AI solutions.
• Develop proof-of-concept AI capabilities that summarise alerts and incidents, explain events in plain language, give troubleshooting guidance and recommend documentation.
• Integrate operational data from platforms such as Commvault, Dell PowerScale, Dynatrace and ServiceNow, and enrich it with internal documentation.
• Help expose AI capabilities through Microsoft Teams and other collaboration tools, and improve how engineers receive operational insights.

Required profile

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Information Systems, Computer Engineering or a related field.
• Interest in AI, machine learning or generative AI.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Python and familiarity with JavaScript or TypeScript, APIs, REST services and version control.
• Basic knowledge of LLMs, prompt engineering, RAG, vector databases and knowledge retrieval systems.
• Basic understanding of IT infrastructure and cloud technologies; knowledge of LangChain, LlamaIndex, OpenAI, Ollama or Hugging Face is an added advantage.
