Data Centre Resident Technician – Rack/Stack & Cabling

About the role

Smart IMS Inc is seeking experienced Data Centre Resident Technicians to support the operations and projects of a top global investment bank in Singapore. The role involves hands‑on hardware support, cabling, inventory management and coordination with vendors to ensure smooth data‑centre functioning.

Key responsibilities

• Perform IMAC tasks – install, move, add, change and decommission servers, storage, network and backup equipment.
• Connect and disconnect cable patches, conduct cable tracing, removal and end‑to‑end patching.
• Provide hardware break‑fix support including SFP, HDD, memory replacements and rack‑and‑stack activities.
• Manage data‑centre inventory records, conduct regular accuracy inspections and update the inventory portal.
• Handle capacity planning for space, power, cooling and patch‑panel availability.
• Coordinate vendor escorts, RMA processes and procurement support.
• Support change and incident management processes, including physical access control and data‑centre access requests.
• Produce regular progress reports on moves, changes and support tickets.

Required profile

• Minimum 2 years of hands‑on experience in a data‑centre environment.
• Strong understanding of structured cabling, patching and cable management.
• Proven experience with inventory management and capacity planning.
• Familiarity with change, incident and procurement processes.
• Excellent documentation and record‑keeping skills.
