Data Governance Intern - Financial Crimes Compliance

About the role

Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group (MUFG) is recruiting a Data Governance Intern for its Financial Crimes Office for Asia (FCOA) in Singapore. The internship runs from 11 January 2027 to 30 June 2027 and supports Data Governance business-as-usual activities for the APAC region. Only Singaporean and PR students are eligible; applications are made through the MUFG early careers website.

Key responsibilities

• Support Data Governance BAU activities for the APAC region, including Change Management, periodic assessments, data quality monitoring and reviews of KDE, DD and DS.
• Organise regional and branch working groups, prepare materials and share them.
• Run daily data quality monitoring operations and analyse weekly and monthly data quality error reports, categorising errors by branch across Asia.
• Learn the Data Dictionary, Key Data Elements, Data Lineage and Data Quality business rules to support ongoing data projects.
• Help create monthly and weekly reports and status updates for regional and global forums on data governance.
• Take part in AI-related initiatives (e.g. MS Copilot, Power Platform) and support reporting and user acceptance testing, using basic prompt engineering.
• Assist in designing simple Power Apps and help document AI and automation use cases, processes, test results and outcomes.

Required profile

• Singaporean or PR student only.
• Ability to work flexible hours occasionally due to time zone differences.
• Well organised and disciplined in keeping operations documentation.
• Willingness to take on ad-hoc tasks as assigned.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Word.
• Knowledge of data analytics tools (e.g. Alteryx, Python, R) and AI tools (e.g. MS Copilot, ChatGPT) is a plus.
• Basic knowledge of prompt engineering and basic exposure to Power Apps or Power Automate is preferred.
