Deputy Director - Digital Products & Platforms

About the role

IMDA is hiring a Deputy Director for its SMEs Go Digital (SMEGD) platform. As a senior leader, you will set the overall product and platform direction, turn organisational and policy objectives into clear digital strategies, and make sure Product, Engineering, UX, Data and Delivery work together to deliver measurable outcomes for SMEs, vendors and internal stakeholders. You will also balance user needs, business outcomes, delivery, operational resilience, governance and risk.

Key responsibilities

• Define and drive the multi-year product and platform direction, turning policy and business objectives into portfolio priorities, roadmaps and outcomes
• Make trade-offs across products and initiatives, prioritising investments and resources
• Provide portfolio-level direction and constructive challenge to product teams, focusing on user needs, adoption and long-term sustainability
• Work with Engineering and Architecture leaders on platform strategy, APIs, system integration, cloud choices, cybersecurity, resilience, scalability and build-versus-buy decisions
• Set priorities for platform modernisation and for AI-assisted services, GenAI, data platforms, analytics and experimentation, with appropriate governance
• Establish portfolio-level outcome measures and oversee delivery health, risks and escalations
• Lead stakeholder engagement with IMDA leadership, policy teams, DTO, ESG, industry partners and external stakeholders
• Design the operating model across Product, Engineering, UX, Data, Operations and Delivery, and coach and develop other senior digital leaders
• Oversee technology vendors, system integrators and delivery partners, and manage portfolio budgets and resource allocation
• Drive growth, partnerships and ecosystem development for SME and vendor adoption

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, Business or a related field; an MBA or relevant advanced degree is advantageous
• At least 10 years of relevant experience in digital product, platform, technology or digital transformation roles, including senior leadership
• Proven track record leading complex digital products, platforms or transformation portfolios in large organisations
• Strong stakeholder management, people leadership and coaching, and commercial and vendor management experience
• Experience in complex or regulated environments is advantageous; public-sector experience is preferred but not mandatory
