About the role
The Ministry of Trade and Industry (MTI) is seeking a Deputy Director for its North East Asia Division. This senior position leads a team that shapes Singapore's economic engagement with over 70 countries in the region, including China.
Key responsibilities
- Formulate and review Singapore's strategy for engaging markets in North East Asia.
- Drive international trade diplomacy and negotiate economic agreements.
- Organise and represent MTI on official trips, study visits and business missions.
- Lead, mentor and coordinate a team of policy analysts and diplomats.
- Support Ministerial visits and bilateral platforms to strengthen economic ties.
Required profile
- Prior experience in international relations or policy formulation, preferably in a government or diplomatic setting.
- Excellent analytical, written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong negotiation abilities and willingness to travel frequently.
- Effective bilingual proficiency in English and Mandarin (written and spoken).
