DevOps Engineer – Cloud & CI/CD (AWS)

About the role

Vistra is looking for a DevOps Engineer to design, implement and maintain robust CI/CD pipelines and cloud infrastructure that support full‑stack applications built with Next.js, Node.js, TypeScript, Python and MySQL on AWS. The role blends infrastructure automation, continuous integration/deployment and operational excellence to enable fast, reliable software delivery across multiple technology stacks.

Key responsibilities

• Design and maintain scalable AWS infrastructure using IaC tools such as Terraform, AWS CloudFormation and AWS CDK.
• Build and optimise CI/CD pipelines with Jenkins, GitHub Actions or AWS CodePipeline for TypeScript and Python applications.
• Manage serverless deployments using AWS Lambda, API Gateway and related managed services.
• Deploy and operate containerised Python workloads on AWS ECS, EKS or AWS Fargate with appropriate scaling and load‑balancing.
• Implement and manage MySQL databases on Amazon RDS, including backups, monitoring and high‑availability configurations.
• Establish monitoring, logging and observability using AWS CloudWatch, CloudTrail and third‑party tools.
• Automate provisioning, configuration management and deployment processes for multi‑language environments.
• Apply security best practices: IAM roles, VPC design, encryption at rest and in transit, vulnerability scanning.
• Collaborate with development teams to optimise deployment strategies and environment management.
• Manage Python package dependencies and deployment artefacts using pip, poetry or conda.
• Troubleshoot production issues across Node.js and Python applications.

Required profile

• Strong experience with AWS services and cloud‑native architecture.
• Proficiency in infrastructure‑as‑code tools (Terraform, CloudFormation, CDK).
• Hands‑on experience with both serverless and containerised deployments.
• Ability to support development teams working with JavaScript/TypeScript and Python stacks.
