Digital Markets Reporter, CNBC Asia

About the role

CNBC Asia is looking for an experienced digital reporter to join its digital team. The role covers global and Asian stories centred on finance, economics and geopolitics, from individual stock movements and sector trends to global economics and financial markets. You will write breaking news, market movers, short analysis and long-form features for CNBC.com under tight deadlines.

Key responsibilities

• Write fast and accurate news copy on financial markets, including stocks, bonds, foreign exchange, cryptocurrencies and macroeconomics for Asia Pacific.
• React to breaking news and push stories forward with analysis and original reporting.
• Contribute to the daily Asia markets blog/wrap, suggesting headlines and directing market coverage.
• Pitch, report and write proprietary stories on markets, finance and economics, including pieces based on CNBC television interviews.
• Speak directly with sources in investment and finance, cultivating sources for exclusive stories.
• Monitor investment trends and stock markets in China, India, Japan, Hong Kong, South Korea and Southeast Asia, as well as global trade, technology and business.
• Research financial markets and economics data, and use the site's content management system to publish stories with pictures, graphics, charts and embeds.

Required profile

• Strong news judgment and in-depth knowledge of stock markets, business and financial news, geopolitics and economic news for Asia-Pacific.
• Proven experience writing on market movers, company earnings and business/sector analysis.
• Clear understanding of CNBC's editorial and programming priorities.
• Strong command of English and excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to prioritise many tasks under tight deadlines and to work different shifts occasionally, including weekends or public holidays.
• Desired: 3+ years of experience at a leading business news website or publication, and familiarity with digital media and content management systems.
